Driver Licensing
Once an operator has licensed their vehicles, the vehicles can only be driven by a driver that is also licensed by the same local authority.
In order to obtain a private hire driver license it is necessary for the driver to pass a medical examination, an enhanced police check and a knowledge test. Each driver is individually licensed and again the license is renewable annually. The local authority will issue the driver with a license badge that they must wear at all times.
As Hewkin Executive operates executive vehicles and stretched limousines under the Miscellaneous Provisions Act 1976 the local authority is able to grant an exemption so that the badge must be carried but need not be worn.
Any driver should freely present thier badge for inspection should it be requested.
